Who we are
The Kimama Group, with over 20 years of experience, has been curating programming for kids and teens around the world. With our home base on the sunny shores of Israel, Kimama draws from traditional American summer camp values fused with the fresh outlook of Israeli culture and character. As an inclusive community, we welcome campers and staff from around the world. At Halfmoon, every single camper is seen and cheered on with individual attention cultivating a strong sense of importance, connection, and belonging.
About
Established in 1922, Camp Halfmoon was originally a boys camp. Years later both boys and girls were welcome to attend and the camp began introducing activities like swimming, outdoor adventure, and tennis. Then in 2022, just in time for the camp’s 100th anniversary, the Kimama Group purchased Halfmoon and pledged to honor it’s legacy by maintaining many of its traditions. Camp Kimama Halfmoon continues to inspire children to be the best they can be by providing immersive experiences for both day and overnight campers.
Our philosophy & values
Our beliefs lie first and foremost in the power of summer camp and giving kids what we know to be the most important experience of their lives. At Kimama Halfmoon we see being a part of children’s lives as an honor, and believe that we are not just an integral part of raising our campers, but in building their foundation and providing the tools to be tomorrow's leaders.
In having the privilege to open a summer camp anew in 2022, we are tasked with reimagining what the campers of today really need out of their camp experience. And we believe it starts with recognizing the individual, giving them the opportunity to reinvent themselves in new social contexts, to dare to try things they’ve never tried before in a screenless environment, and to allow them to be fully present through it all.
While Kimama Halfmoon’s traditions are based in Israeli culture and Judaism, our camps are open to people of all faiths, cultures, and orientations.

In 2022 Kimama landed at Camp Halfmoon to merge their 100 year long tradition and combine it with our new age perspectives on summer camp for the kids of today and future generations to come.
Our staff is a symphony of languages and nationalities. Campers and counselors alike are encouraged to celebrate what makes them unique. At Halfmoon, every single camper is seen and cheered on with individual attention cultivating a strong sense of importance, connection, and belonging.

Our staff are inherently the core of what makes Halfmoon so special. College age or older, certified and accredited in their respective areas of expertise, and coming from every edge of the globe! Many of Halfmoon’s counselors were once upon a time campers, instilling the roots of family and tradition in every waking (or sleeping) moment! Halfmoon maintains a camper to staff ratio of 5 to 1.
